Huihuang Scholarship selects outstanding junior high school graduates from poor western part of China and sends them to boarding senior high schools in more developed eastern part. The Scholarship covers all expenses. We have already started some experimental program. Four students coming from Xining in Qinghai province and from Tianshui in Gansu province have enrolled in Suzhou high school, Jiangsu Province in August, 2007. We plan to franchise this program in other areas.

The eastern and western parts of China display huge disparities, and education in western part lags far behind that of eastern part. Besides, senior high school education is an important stage of people’s development. Huihuang Scholarship gives opportunities for students in western remote areas to broaden their scope in eastern coastal cities, and to grasp advanced knowledge and skills. These students are expected to make contributions to the overall development of western areas in future.
